Dewey Decimal Classification

On certain non-fictional books, GuruLib now provides Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) codes. We are exploring the feature of browsing your catalog using the Dewey codes but kind of short of good ideas. Any librarians willing to help us will be greatly appreciated. You can see the DDC codes in your book information page right below the book cover.

  1. I would love to see this feature expanded. Being a major library nerd, I’d love to be able to put call numbers on my books. But short of doing it all by hand, looking up each book in library catalogues, I couldn’t come up with a good way of doing it. There doesn’t seem to be any tools around for that sort of thing. If GuruLib got a call number field as standard for each entry, it would be just about a perfect service.

Thanks, keep up the great work!

  2. Do you mean Library of Congress call number of Dewey Decimal? I would like to hear your ideas and will try to add them to GuruLib.

  3. It would be wonderful if the DDCs you do have could be displayed as one of the columns on the detail list.
