Import feature bug was finally fixed

Filed under: Uncategorized — gurulib @ 2:57 pm

We finally figured out the problem with the import bug. For some time the import feature was not functioning correctly. The problem was caused by a bug fix applied couple of months ago. We need to find a better way to test GuruLib.

  1. I apologize for adding this comment to your blog rather than the forums but the forums link is broken.

I started adding media to my account and it failed on about half of the UPCs I imported that I was later able to search for directly on Amazon. The search by title found all of them but then wasn’t saving the information when I clicked on add about 50% of the time. Instead it was saving a blank entry. My last attempt was to add the missing DVDs manually but the save changes just directed to a blank page and no information was saved.

So far this is one of the best cataloging apps I’ve found. Just thought I would let you know what problems I’m having.

    *cheers*

  2. We fixed a bug in the adding of movie titles. You should be able to add them to GuruLib now. Sorry for the trouble.

  4. Hi !
I wish to know if I can import movies list from IMDB.
I don’t know how to export it but I think they have an API (I’ve seen films lists on some blogs).
    Thanks !

  5. GuruLib can import from any list that contains UPC/ISBN or the Amazon’s ASIN number. We have not yet checked if GuruLib could import from IMDB but if you could send us a sample list or direct us to an URL where we could find an IMDB list, we could verify if GuruLib works with IMDB list. If GuruLib cannot do that then we could add that functionality.

  6. It seems you can’t see others users lists, neither yours if you’re not connected.
Anyway, I saw none API or export function, I hope they’ll think about it in the futur.

I use this occasion to suggest a usability tip :I believe I can remember it was possible to choice multiple matches on the result page after a search. I’m not sure it existed, perhaps I dreamed about it ! 🙂
That would be usefull when a user want to add an entire series of books (I often do that when I buy old comics).

    Thank you for your attention,
    Bye
