Over the last 2 years I had corresponded with several GuruLib users through my hotmail account. Some of their email address was stored in my contact list. Today when I checked my email, I found out that I have become the victim of an email scam. Someone has sent an email to everyone in my contact list soliciting to purchase goods from some electronic online company. I am sorry that it happened and I don’t have any idea how they were able to get to all my contact list and them email one by one from my account. I hope I get an answer. I am searching online to find people with similar problem.

Hi,
I am sorry to hear you have had this problem, it would appear I am not in your contact list as I have not received any such email (yet). However, I am very interested in your experience as I have just been obliged to take on a hotmail account and am therefore forewarned not to keep contacts on it! It is certainly surprising as I thought it was supposed to be secure.
Good luck -I realise this is now probably a bad time but could you send me details how I can make a donation – it’s just that now is a good time for me. If you wouldn’t mind sending details to my email address.
Regards
Marion

Do you use windows live messenger / MSN messenger? There were a few virus around that targets the messenger and that could have potentially got your contact list from there as well.

Simply change your password to your hotmail account. This should circumvent any other intrusion.

Are you still actively working on Gurulib? It’s been down for awhile now, and I spent a lot of time organizing my DVD collection on there …

Sorry for the inconvenience. Had an unexpected hardware failure coupled with my relocation due to end of course work.

Welcome back, I am glad you were able to sort out the problems – Gurulib is my favourite of all the online catalogues.
I hope the course work went well and whatever is to follow.
