Over the last 2 years I had corresponded with several GuruLib users through my hotmail account. Some of their email address was stored in my contact list. Today when I checked my email, I found out that I have become the victim of an email scam. Someone has sent an email to everyone in my contact list soliciting to purchase goods from some electronic online company. I am sorry that it happened and I don’t have any idea how they were able to get to all my contact list and them email one by one from my account. I hope I get an answer. I am searching online to find people with similar problem.

Need a Mac Computer
I have been looking to port the gurulib barcode reader to the iphone for some time. However, I don’t own a mac. Iphone SDK only runs on Mac. I would greatly appreciate if anyone willing to donate their old mac. Additionally, I had several users complain that the barcode reader crashes the safari browser on mac. A mac would help me debug that too.

GuruLib is back
Once again apologies for the time it took to bring GuruLib back. A new CPU, extra heat sink and an additional cooling fan hopefully should prevent this failure in future. Thank you for your patience and I hope to build a reserve money in future for maintenance. If you find this service useful you may donate here

GuruLib temporarily down
Sorry for this delayed response. I have been trying to find enough money to buy a new processor and UPS for GuruLib. Due to overheating since the cooling fan was not adequate for the Athlon X2 processor GuruLib’s main CPU failed and additionally, the APC UPS that was my power supply backup needs a battery change. The total cost was around $320. I managed to save some money and I have all the hardware available now. I will try to bring GuruLib back soon. All the data is safe and I have been backing up the contents all the time. One again sorry for this delayed response. I hope you all understand the pain of being in school and finding some additional income to run the website.

Major Hardware Failure
Sorry for the interruption that GuruLib suffered last day. GuruLib was down for almost 12 hours. The server failed but all the data is safe. The data is regularly backed up and also the database is replicated. So there was no corruption of data. I am very sorry for the inconvenience.

Pressure of doing PhD
Its been a while since the last major feature addition to GuruLib. Pressure of PhD is finally getting on me. One year ago I quit a comfortable job at Garmin for pursuing a PhD in computer Engineering. Honeymoon period is finally over and I have to start churning out papers. My advisor is on my tail imploring me to “start working 24 hours like a dog”. My specific research is on indoor localization using wireless. Lately, I had some inspiration and finally put together enough material for a paper. I hope the conferences that I am planning to send the paper will find my ideas interesting enough for publication.
Sorry to go on ranting about my problems. Anyway this post is to let you all know that I am still working on fixing bugs in GuruLib and keeping it going healthy. I use GuruLib daily to catalog the collection of research papers on my subject of interest.
